Title :postdoctoral fellow
Responsibilities :A position of postdoctoral fellow in theoretical atomic physics will soon become available.
Qualification :A Ph.D degree in theoretical atomic physics or theoretical chemical physics is required. Interested applicants are expected to have background in computational methods and have worked in one of the following areas:

1. Interactions of electrons and positrons with atoms (structures and/or collisions).
2. Atomic systems in external electric and magnetic fields.
3. Atomic physics related to plasmas.
4. Artificial atoms such as quantum dots (theoretical or computational).

اكتشاف كوكب جديد يدور حول نجم بحجمه

الأرض أصغر من الشمس بثلاث مئة ألف مرة، ولكن تصوروا
لو أن الأرض كانت بحجم الشمس... الحياة ستصبح مستحيلة،
وهذه نعمة من نعم الله علينا....



اكتشف العلماء كوكباً بحجم المشتري يدور حول نجم بارد نسبياً (نصف كتلة الشمس)، وهذا النجم هو في مرحلة متقدمة من العمر ما يسمى "العملاق الأحمر" ويبعد عشرين سنة ضوئية عن الأرض.
وعلى الرغم من أن هذا الكوكب قريب من شمسه، إلا أنه كوكب بارد ومقفر، لأن الشمس التي يدور حولها باهتة وليست وهاجة كشمسنا، وهنا نتذكر نعمة الشمس التي سخرها الله لنا فكانت وهاجة وليست خافتة، يقول تعالى: (وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا) [النبأ: 13].

طبعاً يا أحبتي نسوق مثل هذه الاكتشافات العلمية ونتأملها بهدف توسيع رؤيتنا للكون، ولندرك عظمة الخالق تبارك وتعالى. فالتفكر في خلق الكون عبادة لا تقل عن عبادة الصلاة والحج. وعندما نرى هذا الكوكب الذي خلقه الله بحجم شمسه التي يدور حولها، نذكر نعمة الله علينا أن سخر لنا الأرض بحجمها المناسب وبعدها عن الشمس ونستمتع بدفء الحياة على ظهرها. ونقول: (وَإِنْ تَعُدُّوا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ) [النحل: 18].
